My name is Kevin, and I'm still kind of finding what I need to do to be who I need to be in the world. It's been a bit of a trip to where i am now, but I've still got a ways to go before I am where I need to be.

Sept 2nd - College part 2

Man... It has been quite a trip today. I started out by waking up at 10 o'clock-esque to the joyous cries of my neighbor in the dorms, James, about the upcoming BYU game tha twas happening that night. I mean, yeah, you can enjoy your game, but I have a life too you know? Meh. I ended up ind of laying back in bed and getting that extra little fifteen minutes of sleep that I needed. I've been kind of coming down with a cold as of late. It's lame, but that's what I get for sot sleeping a lot last semester. Anyway, Andrew, my roommate, came in when I woke up and we talked about his trip to Italy and what he had done on the break between semesters. It was fun, but he left pretty quickly to help out a friend that was a few floors up. Whatever. I took that as my cue to get up and go see what Jams was all worked up about.

I got into our dorm lounge to see him, Amber (a friend I met last semester), Drew (a guy that we met yesterday when we met the new kids for the semester) and James all sitting around the TV watching a football game. I joined in and talked about classes that we were all taking the next semester. It was fun to hear about the classes that everyone else was taking and how much that everybody paid for books.

Then it hit me.
I needed to go and get books.

This is where i did a dumb...DUMB thing.
Okay. So, I go to the Bookstore in our student center to find all of my books. I went and printed out my schedule to see what all I needed bookwise. I walked in and found that every class that I needed had like... 3 books minimum (excluding PE and Social Dance). I almost fell back when i saw how many I needed. Not only that, but tey weren't cheap. Like... the average was almost $70 bucks. I knew that my parents weren't gonna be happy, but I knew that it was what I needed to do. I finally walked to the check out counter and assessed the damages: $610.57!!! NOT COOL! I have never heard of that before! It was nuts.
So, after all of that, I walked back to the dorms to see everybody and tell them about all of what had just happened. It was now when I realized a fatal flaw in my purchasing: Not every teacher needed all of the books that were offered. I looked back in the bookstore when I went back again to find out that I only needed about 1/3 of the books that I bought. This put my running total from $610 to $252. A welcome change.

When this was done, James, Drew, Amber and I all went up to her dorm to hang out and have a great time. We played Phase 10 for almost two hours. It was here when I met both of Amber's roommates: Jenessa and Cassie. I saw Cassie for maybe three seconds, but I got to know Jenessa pretty well. She joined in our game after about 20 minutes or so. She was pretty cool: funny in that kind of strange way that I like. She dropped out after a few hands, but it was fine. We still had a breat time. The game lasted almost two hours, and when it ended James, Drew and I went to the Galley (our foodin' up place on Campus). We had a pretty good meal: fried chicken, rolls, pizza junk, and some pretty good dessert-y things. Chocolate milk adds to the glory of the meal as well. I liked it.

When that was done, James wanted to meet up with Jennifer (an old roommate of Amber's) and her new friend from NY. I told James that I needed to take a nap on account of my oncoming sickness and all around tiredness. I gave him my number for my dorm and made my way to the dorm. I, of course, didn't go right to bed. I kind of lingered around, went online and read a few comics that had been updated in the last week or so and noodled around and talked to my older brother (this is his blog) about stuff that had been going on in our lives. It was pretty cool. After that, I felt an uncontrollable urge to sleep. I thought that it would start out to be a nap or something like that, but I was very wrong.

I decided that I would go to bed at 5:30 or so. So I did. I then woke up when our bishop came in and showed me that we had been given a new room for Church and that he wanted to get to know me. It was kind of a cool experience, but i was still exhausted. I thanked him and he went on his way and met more people. I crashed again. This was at about 6:45. I woke up next at 9:20. I had been asleep for 4 hours! Yeesh! There goes my night.

I met up with James, Danielle (One of James' friends that I met last semester), Nick (a friend from last semester) and Jeremy (another kid I met at the same time as Drew). We were watching the BYU game and watching as our team was slowly beaten to shame. It was quite sucky, but it was fun to be there with everybody that I knew. We went down to Nick's apartment that he had just moved into that night to watch the second half of the game. Not too bad, but we still lost.

After that, I was ready to call it a night. I came back to the dorm to find Andrew asleep and the lights off. I came in quietly and went online. I listened to a bunch of music, played some Kingdom of Loathing and talked to Sam, my older brother (blogtimistic). It was fun to do that.

After a while of that, I decided that it was time to call it quits. And... now I'm here... bloggin'. So... I'm gonna call it a night today.

See ya'll later.
